He did it, yall...He died for each and every one of us even though we didn't and don't deserve it. God sent His only son to save us....His one and only son! Remember that next time you're tripping off giving somebody your last WHATEVER. We are all truly blessed and highly favored so I hope you take today to give thanks, praise, and enjoy your loved ones.

I've been absent for a while in more ways than one because I suddenly lost a loved one and it's been painful. All my life I called him my step-father, but as I gathered pictures for his memorial the term "step" seemed so grossly inadequate. He was there for all my graduations and when I got my wisdom teeth pulled; he actually was the one who pulled all my baby teeth. He was at my album release and shows, he was there when my appendix was taken out, and he came all the times I locked myself out of my house and car. He was there to help me clean up when my ceiling fell in, and he was the one to take me to the hospital when I rode through a glass door on my bike. When I bought a crappy piece of rental property in a horrible neighborhood he was there to help me with all the crappy problems. He did all this on his own because I was never comfortable asking him for anything, even though I knew he would say yes. I spent a whole lot of time being angry with him, or disappointed; I was often mad at him because at times I felt he wasn't what I needed him to be to me. But he was always there when it mattered most and I miss him terribly. I'm heart broken over the way he passed away and the tears seem as if they will never run out. We were both work-a-holic insomniacs...restless aquarians. But I find peace in knowing that God knows best, and he is now finally resting in peace. I loved you, father of mine, you meant a lot to me, and life is not the same without you.
For Keeps
Now is the time when most people get rid of what's not working for them- from clutter and trash to toxic relationships. My list of things to purge was very short in comparison to what I need to keep. Towards the end of 2009 I became a big sister to a little girl from Big Brothers Big Sisters (www.bbbsemo.org). She is awesome and I am looking forward to being a positive part of her life in 2010. In October 2009 I began training for a marathon that will take place in April (www.gostlouis.org)- please check out the journal section of the site to read about my progress. I started this training barely able to run half of a mile, and now, only two months later, running 5 miles is nothing to me. I have already decided that I will continue to run even after the race, so this new hobby comes with me in 2010. I also gained a lot of new fans towards the end of 2009- you guys have given me support, encouragement, and constructive criticism to which I am grateful. You will be the first to have my new release in 2010. So I got rid of a few things from 2009, but all of you, new fans and old, are for keeps. Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!
Being up before dawn on Christmas Day reminds me of being a kid...this is definitely my most favorite time of the year. I'm reflecting on how I used to be so excited about what would be under the tree for me, but now I am excited about wrapping gifts for my family. I am about to bake cookies and cupcakes for my niece while playing the Temptations Christmas cd....can't forget Stevie Wonder's "Ave Maria".
